The man who opened fire at the Family Research Center pleaded guilty to charges of terrorism today, and cited the Southern Poverty Law Center as the institution that gave him his target.
from Washington Examiner:
The Family Research Council shooter, who pleaded guilty today to a terrorism charge, picked his target off a “hate map” on the website of the ultra-liberal Southern Poverty Law Center which is upset with the conservative group’s opposition to gay rights.
Floyd Lee Corkins II pleaded guilty to three charges including a charge of committing an act of terrorism related to the August 15, 2012 injuring of FRC’s guard. He told the FBI that he wanted to kill anti-gay targets and went to the law center’s website for ideas.
At a court hearing where his comments to the FBI were revealed, he said that he intended to “kill as many as possible and smear the Chick-Fil-A sandwiches in victims’ faces, and kill the guard.” The shooting occurred after an executive with Chick-Fil-A announced his opposition to same-sex marriage.

As of writing this, the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center still has the “hate map” website active, but they are now under pressure to take the site down. Here’s the website, and here’s afrozen cache of it in case they do take it down.
Can you even imagine if this would-be murderer had shot up a liberal not for profit and told authorities that he had taken his target from a Tea Party website? The press would be outraged, and you would hear nothing else for weeks on end. Instead, there’s barely a blip on the news today.
Chances are, the first you’ve heard about this story is right here on Poor Richard’s News…. At least some of us are doing the media’s job…
I looked at the map, and it has “Christian identity” groups (which means … ?) on it. One is called Crusaders of Yahweh, and when I Google’d that name, the only auto-complete option was to add ‘hate group’.
